That\u2019s a signal.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"340\" data-end=\"355\">A strong one.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"357\" data-end=\"491\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bbgi.com\/\">Beasley Media Group<\/a> &#8211; 55 stations, 20 million weekly listeners, a top 10 US broadcaster &#8211; just announced a full digital-first pivot.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"550\">Translation: FM is no longer the center of gravity.<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"552\" data-end=\"676\">And Beasley isn\u2019t talking about sprinkling in a podcast here, or posting a few more clips on TikTok. Their plan is deeper:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"973\">\n<li data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"710\">\n<p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"710\">Expand revenue beyond FM<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"767\">\n<p data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"767\">Create content designed for on-demand and social<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"858\">\n<p data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"858\">Reorganize teams so digital sits at the core of programming, sales, and operations<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"859\" data-end=\"973\">\n<p data-start=\"861\" data-end=\"973\">Develop data, product, and audience-growth capabilities more common in tech companies than in radio groups<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1128\">This matters because too many broadcasters still treat digital as a side project, something bolted on, often underfunded, often seen as a cost center.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1212\">Beasley is flipping the model. Digital is not a support act. It removes the last excuse for smaller, nimbler stations that claim they\u2019re too constrained to transform.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1644\">The truth is: digital isn\u2019t waiting. Audiences already live in a digital-first world. Their habits, platforms, and expectations are all shaped outside of radio.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1940\">\n<li data-start=\"1646\" data-end=\"1744\">\n<p data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"1744\">Listeners compare your app not to another station\u2019s app, but to Spotify, Netflix, or WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1745\" data-end=\"1844\">\n<p data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"1844\">Advertisers benchmark your targeting and attribution against what they see from Google or Meta.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1845\" data-end=\"1940\">\n<p data-start=\"1847\" data-end=\"1940\">Audiences expect personalization, seamless interfaces, and on-demand choice as the default.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2000\">If you don\u2019t meet those expectations, someone else will.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2002\" data-end=\"2065\">From \u201cdigital strategy\u201d to strategy <em data-start=\"2042\" data-end=\"2047\">for<\/em> a digital world<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2066\" data-end=\"2271\">As I wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/audiotiq.com\/playbook\/\"><em data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2121\">Radio\u2019s Digital Transformation Playbook<\/em><\/a>, the challenge is not to build a \u201cdigital strategy\u201d as an add-on. The challenge is to rethink your entire strategy for a digital-first environment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2273\" data-end=\"2528\">That means restructuring: how teams are organized, how success is measured, how content is produced, and how revenue is captured.
